Here is your chance to get exposure for your original work.

Where possible all prize winning poems will be read at the presentation on Sunday at 11:15 am.

Prizes:

Open Section: 1st Place $150, second place $75.00, 3d Place $50.00

High School Section: $50 for winner, $100 for winners school

Primary School Section: $50 for winner, $100 for winners school

GUIDELINES & CONDITIONS OF ENTRY

CONDITIONS:

  1. All entries must be received by 5.00 pm on Mon 3rd March 2008.  No late entries will be accepted.
  2. Each entry must be the entrant’s original work, in the English language, not previously published, accepted for publication or broadcast and not having won a first or any monetary prize in competition.
  3. There is no word limit.
  4. Poems may be on any subject.

HOW TO SUBMIT ENTRIES:

  1. One entry form per poem attached with paper clip not stapled.
  2. Entries to be typed or computer printed with double line spacing on one side of A4 white paper.  All pages must be numbered.  No entries may be submitted by facsimile, email or computer disk.
  3. Entrant to supply two copies of each poem submitted.
  4. No name or other identifying material should appear on the poem.  Poems will be judged anonymously.
  5. Submissions will not be returned.  It is the responsibility of the writer to keep a copy.
  6. $5.00 per entry (two poems) payable to Taralga A P & H Show for Open Age category.
  7. $2.00 per entry (two poems) payable to Taralga A P & H Show for High School category and Primary School category.

JUDGING & NOTIFICATION:

Judges’ decisions are final.

Judges reserve the right to transfer poems between categories where deemed appropriate.

Winners will be contacted prior to the Awards Presentation event.  Winners will be announced, prize winning poems (or an excerpt) will be read and prizes presented (where possible) at this event.  Prizes will be mailed if winner cannot attend in person.

The Taralga Poetry Competition Committee reserves the right to broadcast or publish, without fee to the author, in part or in whole, award winning or commended entries on a web site, in an anthology and/or in media publications.  No payment or reward will be made to the entrant for any such publication.  Copyright remains with the author thereafter.

The Committee also reserves the right to give entrants’ contact details to the media, if among the winners.

Results will be published in the Goulburn Post following the Awards Presentation.
